FORWARD-THINKING CUSTOM CAPABILITIES
We deploy innovative material technologies to industry through partnering, licensing, and supplying products through contract manufacturing. We have unique capabilities in lightweight alloys and have developed several patented metal casting and process technologies and lightweight components. Customers are brought fully vetted technology products with a forward-thinking team to invent, develop, manufacture and commercialize next-generation products.
ADAM LOUKUS, PH.D.
Lightweight MMC BrakesDr. Adam Loukus is the President of Loukus Technologies, Inc. (LT). Before founding LT, Adam was a co-founder of REL, Inc. He managed the advanced materials area where several unique lightweight cast products and casting technologies were developed. The development was the culmination of internal work as well as synergistic research with NSF, DOD, and the DOE. Adam’s team addressed challenges in the braking industry, survivability issues facing our War Fighter, and clean energy. Those projects developed innovative light alloys and metal matrix composite products. Along with company awards and recognition, Adam has 5 patents and several pending.
In 2018 Adam founded LT and purchased REL’s materials division (equipment and patent portfolio) and is further developing lightweight alloys, ceramics, and metal matrix composite materials. He is involved with company strategy, contract solicitations, awards, logistics, and strategic marketing and sales of equipment and products. Adam is a member of LIFT(Lightweight Innovation for Tomorrow) in Detroit, Michigan and the current chair of the Aluminum Division at American Foundry Society.
Adam received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 2001. He did his graduate research at NTNU in Trondheim, Norway. In December 2004 he received his Ph.D. in hydro-forming metals from MTU. His research extends from light alloy development to material processing techniques to obtain desired component properties.
Adam lives in Calumet with his family. He enjoys being a spectator at his kids’ many sporting events. Adam also gives back to his community serving as the Treasurer of the Calumet Hockey Association and as a trustee on for the Copper Country Intermediate School District Board of Education.
